Sleep apnea is characterized by repeated breathing pauses during sleep that eventually leads to chronic sleep deprivation. Due to this, sleep apnea usually causes poor concentration, slow reflexes, irritability, and moodiness.
There is also a significant increase in the risk of motor vehicle accidents caused by excessive daytime sleepiness. There are various types of sleep apnea; however, the most common type is the Obstructive sleep apnea. Obstructive sleep apnea is the blockage of the airways during sleep which occurs as a result of the relaxation of the throat muscles.
