    Medscheck for Medication Safety

Medscheck is a short, one- on- one consultation with the pharmacist where we go into our consult room and we sit down with you. And we go through all your medicines and make sure you use them properly.

We explain to you what the different medications are useful. We just try and help you evaluate some of the basic needs of your medications and stuff like whether you should be taking it. Why you’re taking it. What common interactions that may occur. What you need to be aware of in terms of some good side effects and how it might affect your daily living.

Things to go through this consultation:

    1. Go through all medicines and how are they used properly

    2. Explain to you what medications are useful.

    3. Discuss the reasons why you’re taking the medicines including common interactions that may occur.

    4. Make you aware of the good side effects of your medication and how it might affect your daily living.

    5. Go through dietary advice and lots of advice on how you can help manage your condition.

    Who will need a Medscheck?

    Elderly people

For the elderly, the risk of side effects, medicine interactions and other related problems increases as they age. The body changes in many ways and having some health conditions may also produce further changes in the body.

    People taking multiple medicines

For medicine safety reasons and to prevent making mistakes, a medication review will help the patients understand why a large number of medicines have been prescribed to them. Patients taking 5 or more medicine on a daily basis are twice as likely to have side effects than others.

    Ask for a Medscheck!

You may consult your doctor or pharmacists for a regular medicine review. Ideally, it should be done every 6 to 12 months. But over here at Priceline Pharmacy West Brunswick, you can ask us for a medication review at any time of the year. This is also a good practice to follow when there are changes to make as far as medication management is concerned. The changes include starting new or stopping medicines.
